Kinetic sculpture video from the Time, Form, Concept exhibition at the National Archaeological Museum of Athens, 2013.
Transcript
We are here after a very long period of efforts, communications, difficult conditions because the museum space is very sensitive. This happened for the first time, and the people of the museum and I found a way, after six months, to organize and build this exhibition, which respects the environment of the ancient statues and can have a valuable conversation, interaction with my own sculptural works.
Here, for example, this work. It is called Sea Travellers. It is a work made from the sound of the word “alloy”. The work is constructed so as to be influenced by sound vibrations and to resonate with the free vibration of sound.
It is a beautiful work, situated within the sea of vibrations, while behind it, you can see, there is an empty pedestal because the Ephebe of Antikythera is missing, since it is in the hall of the periodic exhibition of the Antikythera Treasure.
And so we found a relationship with the statue that for so many years was embraced and held in the arms of the sea, and the Sea Travellers within the sea carry a meaning that converses. And it is located in the space from which the Ephebe emerged from the sea.
